I woke up late this morning, my fault, I went to bed late… but as I was woken by my 11 month old son and realised my girls were still sleeping, I got a bit excited….
I had a moment to pray before the whole tribe climbed into my bed…. but boy was I wrong, I only had 3 minutes to pray before they all awoke.
I felt robbed… robbed of my prayer time
But I couldn’t blame my tribe, it was my fault. I should’ve woken up. I shouldn’t have gone to bed so late. I should’ve got out of bed, despite my eyes burning and my mind telling me just 10 minutes more.
However, I thank God, that even though I only had 3 minutes of prayer, He was still able to speak to me.
Lately I have been reading so much sad news, yesterday I read an article that said there are lots of teenagers going missing in London and they’re not sure why… I’ve been hearing more and more stories about teenage suicide, bullying, trafficking of children. The stories are endless.
We need to pray for our children!
We need to cover them in prayer, daily. We cannot protect them by ourselves or with our own strength. You see… the devil is determined to destroy our children, our families and our homes. He wants OUR children.
I need you to know, Jesus is coming back, sooner than we realise, and as a result the devil is working overtime to make sure he can stop as many people from being with Jesus when He comes. That includes our children.
The bible says …
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Romans 6:12
It is a spiritual warfare we are in… that our children are in, and we need to fight this battle spiritually… this starts on our knees, acknowledging that we can’t raise our children on our own, we need the help and power from our Ultimate Parent, God, to help us with this battle.
After my 3 minute prayer, I remembered a book that I previously read. It is called The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian. It is a powerful book, teaching you how to pray for your children. I will be going through this book everyday for 31 days in January.
Now, we can’t wait for January to start praying for our children. We start today. As you are reading this blog I want you to take a moment, pause and pray for your child. We also have prayer topics on our website, you can download the document here.
Now, I want you to write down all your concerns and worries and hopes for your child that you want to pray about, anything from the past, present and the future… a list for each child. Really ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what you need to pray about for each child. Don’t lose this list! Start praying over each point.
“Its not enough to pray only for the concerns of the moment; we need to pray for the future, and we need to pray against the effects of the past.”
Let us start today to pray diligently for our children. Be sure to join me in January for the 31 days Diligently Praying for Our Children (from the book power of a praying parent).
Here’s a few things you can do before we begin in January…
- Make your prayer list for each child
- Find a prayer partner
- If you can get copy of the book
- Sign up to our website to get a count down to the 31 days of prayer and reminders (www.parentsofdiligence.co.uk)
Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name I will do it. John 14:13-14
I look forward to praying with you.
Keep smiling, stay blessed.
